Unconditional love for your wife (or wife-to-be) is based in your acknowledging her as God’s precious gift to you.The New Testament tells us in Ephesians 5:25: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”
How do you keep her emotional tank full? By constantly affirming her. Tell her that you value, respect and love her.
While 'words' are powerful, putting your love into action is critical. Actions in ‘deed’ are proof. For example, 1John 3:18 says, “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”
In today’s song, the groom declares his love to his bride and also states his commitment to her father and the Lord above.
I promise to love her
With all that I have
I'll put nothing above her
And I won't turn my back

She's all I'll ever need
And she loves me at my worst
I'm giving my word
I promise to love her and keep her
Want her and need her
Make her my whole world
Sacrificial action is too often a missing character element in male leadership at home. God placed husbands in this position of Christ-like leadership and responsibility, which men must uphold regardless of their character. A man may not lead his wife perfectly, but he must care for her and his family by serving them all with honor and love through his actions.
If you’re married …
When was the last time you gave up something for your wife? Something you genuinely valued, like a football game, fishing trip, hobby or … a nap?
When was the last time you spent time with your wife doing what she values or taking on a chore she does regularly? Is it daily, weekly or monthly? She may notice what you do and encourage you. If she doesn’t, that’s not an opening for you to abandon your Biblical responsibility.
Show your wife you love her unconditionally and say it – be found guilty of being a real leader in your family, as Christ is to the Church.
