Today we commemorate the crucifixion of Christ. Odd that it is called "GOOD" Friday, but it's GOOD because if Jesus hadn't suffered and died for us and offered His gift of eternal life with Him in heaven, we would all be destined for hell. It's our choice whether or not we accept His gift. The New Testament is the 'Gospel' message. 'Gospel' is Greek for 'Good News'.
Luke 23:33-34,38,46 - "And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. 38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost." They didn't kill Jesus...He willingly laid down his life. The message of Easter is of Christ's victory over sin, death, and the devil ... victory indeed! We were bought with a price and it is PAID IN FULL! Accept His gift!
