The 8th Commandment

Do not steal! If only one of the ten commandments were followed completely and by all, it would likely lead to world peace.

The eight commandment is simple: Exodus 20:15Thou shalt not steal.”

This ultimately means:

· Do not steal another’s life,

· Do not steal another’s belongings,

· Do not steal another’s freedom,

· Do not steal another’s spouse,

· Do not steal another’s dignity,

· The list goes on and on, but simply put? DON’T STEAL ANYTHING!

There are many things of this world that capture our attention: money, cars, boats, houses, tools, computers … all things that can be stolen from us. They’re all are destined for the junk pile as they can’t endure forever = manmade junk. Matthew 6:19 - “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:”

There’s only one thing we can rely on to never have stolen from us and will never fail = the saving Grace of Jesus Christ. By accepting His gift, you have the greatest gift of all!

“Stealing a life, a person, a spouse, material property, intellectual property, a reputation, dignity, or trust: There is hardly any aspect of human life that is not harmed -- sometimes irreparably so -- by stealing. That is why it is fair to say that if everyone observed only one of the 10 commandments, observing God's commandment ‘Do Not Steal’ would, all by itself, make a beautiful world.”
