Advent - The Thrill of Hope

Not everyone celebrates Advent, but it is a season of preparation and waiting for the celebration of Jesus' birth at Christmas (not the arrival of Santa!) The four weeks of Advent is an opportunity for family worship and devotion in the home. The term advent is from the Latin translation of "coming." During December, some Christians take part in advent as a way to celebrate the promise of the Saviour, Jesus Christ both at birth and looking forward to His return. The first Sunday of Advent this year was November 27, but if you haven’t started counting, don’t let this wonderful opportunity for worship and teaching pass you and your family by. Jesus is the reason for the season!

Matthew 1:23 - “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Deuteronomy 18:18-19 – “I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require [it] of him.” 2Peter 1:19 - “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:”

Christ, Whose glory fills the skies; Christ, the Everlasting Light! Come, Thou long awaited one … in the fullness of Your Love. We wait, in hope of You! Daystar, in our hearts appear! Our souls are longing through and through ... for Emmanuel.
