Blessings

James 1:17 - “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
Everything we have is from God, down to the very breath we take. We may think we "own" our car, our house, our belongings, even our bodies, but it all belongs to God. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
Deuteronomy 10:14 - “Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD'S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.”
Speaking of blessings, did you know the Bible tells us to bless God? Most of us think He should bless us, but are we to bless the LORD? How? Consider this Psalm of David (Psalms 103:1-9) -
"... Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.Even in the darkest hour, there are always blessings to thank God for. Have you thanked the LORD lately for the things He has entrusted you with? What if the trials of this life are mercies in disguise? What if you woke up this morning with only the things that you thanked God for yesterday?
King David was a man of prosperity and power. What kept him from becoming completely selfish and corrupt was his heart attitude and one solid principle: David knew that everything is God’s:
1Chronicles 29:11-13 - "Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name."
