In the early 1990s, the beverage company Gatorade and basketball legend Michael Jordan joined forces to create an advertising campaign, "Be Like Mike." The “Be Like Mike” slogan resonated with audiences, encapsulating the desire to emulate Jordan’s success and athletic lifestyle.
'Like Mike', whose prowess on the court was unrivaled, another man whose success and lifestyle of faith many desire to emulate, founded, at the young age of 18, Turning Point USA (the largest and fastest growing conservative youth activist organization in this country). This man was first and foremost an unapologetic Christian, as well as a husband, father, son, patriot, voice, leader and friend -- Charlie Kirk -- is now among our nation's greatest Christian martyrs.
Acts Chapter 6 introduces a faithful man of God named Stephen, who was stoned to death (the first recorded martyr) for boldly preaching the gospel and challenging religious leaders. The recent assassination of Charlie Kirk has devastated countless Christians and people from all over the world.
"Like Stephen," Charlie passionately defended his faith. ALL Christians must!
1Peter 3:15 - “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”
Charlie's ability to engage youth in difficult conversations and provide a place where truth and ideas were formulated and debated is unrivaled as well. He believed in the power of free speech and debate to shape ideas and to persuade people in a kind, peaceful and respectful manner. Ah, if we would all be "Like Charlie!"
Charlie was fatally shot on September 10, 2025 while engaging with a large outdoor crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. This foolish act, and the hatred growing in the U.S. is heartbreaking.
Fools are saying, "More gun control!" Newsflash: Guns don't kill or murder people, PEOPLE do. Furthermore, guns aren't the only weapon capable of taking a life. Just ask the family of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, who was recently fatally stabbed on a North Carolina light rail system. Fool, do you want to ban all lethal drugs, axes, shovels and baseball bats too? The problem is not the murder weapon, the problem is the evil act of the murderer.
Charlie once said, "When people stop talking, that’s when you get violence. That’s when civil war happens, because you start to think the other side is so evil, and they lose their humanity. I think what makes this country on the verge of going to a place we don’t want it to go right now, is we’re afraid to go to places like this and have these conversations. I’m not.”
In this country, we have religious and political freedom. Violence of any kind has no place here. Sadly, our society has lost respect for life due to evil ideologies. Since when does disagreeing with someone's views make it OK to murder them?
1John 3:15 - “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”
God is Love. Satan is evil (devil without the "d"). In Utah, in the aftermath of Charlie's assassination, there was no rioting, looting, violence ... only vigils, prayers and people coming together. That's just what Charlie would have wanted.
1John 4:8 - “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1Peter 5:8 - “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
May the tragic death of Charlie Kirk move people from all walks of life to take action ... to "Be Like Charlie" ... unapologetic about your Christian faith and willing to share the gospel message with anyone ... particularly to young people and college students across this nation.
BE LIKE CHARLIE
"Like Charlie," we encourage you to pray -- How to Pray Pray for Charlie's wife, two young children and his parents. Pray for his extended family, friends, the youth of this nation, and the staff at Turning Point USA and its affiliates; Pray for America. We lost a brilliant Christian leader and potential presidential candidate. And yes, pray for the assassin's family and the assassin himself, Tyler Robinson. Charlie would want us to.
Romans 12:19 - “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
Lord, please give us 1 million more Charlies!
God Almighty is in control and has a purpose for everyone's life. We honour Charlie for the way He took a stand and professed the name of Jesus, but ALL GLORY BELONGS TO GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!
Yes, be "Like Charlie" ... but better still, "Be Like Jesus."
