In our world today, some have God competing with money, fame (social media ‘friends’), art, education, sports teams, actors, musicians and more. The failure to worship God over these false gods enables satan to thrive. The worship of false gods leads to societal decline and brings no lifelong joy.
We have the freedom to choose our beliefs and convictions. We have one Creator = we are all brothers and sisters, making it undeniable that one God means one human race. In essence, having the same Creator (parent) means we are all equal and no person is greater than another. One God means one moral standard for all. What’s wrong and immoral is equally wrong for everyone.
Almighty God's First Commandment is to love Him and to put no other gods before Him.
The First Commandment Old Testament Exodus 20:3 – “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” New Testament Matthew 22:37-38 – “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.”
The Second Commandment warns us not to worship images or idols but to worship our Creator God only. We cannot use physical objects, images or “aids” … in other words, idols … to worship a spiritual God. God is a Spirit and His followers must worship Him in spirit.
The Second Commandment Old Testament Exodus 20:4 – “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:” New Testament 1Corinthians 8:4b - “… we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.” John 4:24 – “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Today’s song ‘No Other Gods’ praises our Creator as the only God, proclaiming there’s nothing greater than Him (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) --

So, I’ll place no other gods before You,

We serve a jealous God ... a God worthy of our love, honour and praise forever!
