Happy Valentine’s Day!

Here in the United States, we celebrate “Valentine’s Day” every February 14. Traditionally, cards, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones. God is the One Who gave us Love … God IS Love! Now that’s something to celebrate! 1John 4:8 - “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

The word “charity” in the Bible properly denotes “love”. There are at least two types of love mentioned in the Bible; the Greeks used four words for love – agape (unconditional love, the highest form of love such as the love of God for man), storge (natural, unforced, familial love as between a parent and child), phileo (brotherly love, most often shown within close friendships) and eros (sensual or passionate love between a husband and wife.) The entire Book of Song of Solomon vividly portrays the passion of eros love. "Love" appears in the Holy Bible over 300 times, with the apostle John having the most references.

1John 4:13-19 – “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son [to be] the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us.”

Whatever you to today, may it be full of all types of LOVE!
