Opposite: something that is completely different or contrary to another thing, often positioned across from it or in conflict with it; i.e.,"hot" is the opposite of "cold” and “light” is the opposite of “darkness”.

Genesis 1:3-4 – “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”

The Bible often presents us with choices of two contrasting things. Today, let’s take a look at just a few biblical opposites:

Good / evil Heaven / hell Christ / antichrist Saviour / destroyer Truth / lies Strength / weakness Humility / pride Courage / fear Wisdom / foolishness, folly Free will / restriction, dependence Eternal / temporal Life / death Right / wrong Perfect / flawed, incomplete Blessing / curse Light / darkness Knowledge / ignorance Innocence / guilt Victory / defeat Order / chaos Grace / works Unity / division Forgiveness / condemnation Acceptance / denial, rejection Without the choice of heaven, our destination defaults to hell. It is only because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ that we have the choice -- the free will -- to spend eternity in heaven.

John 3:18 - “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Study the above list again. Does anything stand out?

Our free will choice is part of God’s plan. God made a way for us through Jesus Christ, and it is up to us whether we accept or deny his gift of salvation. The choice we make – or don’t ‘make -- in this life impacts our eternity. The opposite of accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour is accepting satan and hell for ever and ever. What are you waiting for?

Exodus 15:18 - “The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.”
