His Hallowed Destiny Was to Change Ours
The word "Hallowed" appears in the Bible 21 times and means "sacred" or "holy" ... the opposite of unholy. The name of our Father in heaven is hallowed.
Matthew 6:9 - “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”

Satan likes to take the things of God and twist them around to cause confusion ... he twisted God's word in the garden to confuse Eve; transpose a few letters and "Satan" can become "Santa" ... he is good at deception; he manipulates, using partial truths, just enough to deceive. For instance, read this verse:
Isaiah 14:12 - “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”
Satan has changed modern 'bible' versions and he revised the above passage to say -- Isaiah 14:12 (ESV) - "How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!"
Isaiah 14:12 (NIV) - "How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!"
Satan, through new 'bible' versions, has twisted God's true words to say that he (Lucifer) is the day star instead of Jesus!
No, it is Jesus Who is our bright and morning star, our day star, our bright light in a world of darkness! (See 2Peter 1:19)
Matthew Henry once said, "When the light of the Scripture is darted into the blind mind and dark understanding, by the Holy Spirit of God, it is like the day-break that advances, and diffuses itself through the whole soul, till it makes perfect day."Jesus declares Himself that He is the bright and morning star --
Revelation 22:16 - “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
Soon, many folks will be celebrating ‘Halloween,’ and like any ‘holiday,’ how one chooses to celebrate is up to them. Some celebrate ‘Halloween’ by dressing in costume and ‘trick-or-treating’ or attending costume parties, some carve pumpkins, visit haunted houses, deliver playful pranks or play practical jokes, and some light bonfires and tell scary stories about monsters or ghosts.
Halloween is what you make of it.
The world celebrates the dark side, but in God there is no darkness.
1John 1:5 - “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
Christian, if you 'trick-or-treat' this year, rather than go with the ghostly, wicked witch or scary monster themes, why not take advantage of the opportunity to dress in costumes that glorify our Saviour? Jesus was the first 'Superhero', after all! Maybe dress as Mary, Joseph, Abraham … Jesus Himself ... or any of the apostles, maybe even one of God’s creatures, such as a kitten, puppy or bird? Perhaps take along some Bible tracts and hand them out to those who give you candy (and anyone you see along the way), and don’t forget to tell them how much God loves them! Shine His Light in the dark!
Matthew 5:16 - “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Many churches have a ‘Trunk-or-Treat’ ministry, where car trunks are decorated and aligned in the parking lot for children to parade by and receive candy, Bible tracts and information about the local church. It is a safe, fun way for children to participate in a ‘Halloween’ activity and an opportunity for the local church body to reach the community for Christ. (PS--Candy donations are always appreciated at these events!)
I’m not afraid of the dark … the dark is afraid of me!
I’m not afraid because Jesus' Light is shining bright in me!However you choose to spend October 31, remember that Jesus’ Love glows in the dark! Do not fear … put on the armour of God (Ephesians 6) and trust in Him … He has overcome the world! (John 16:33)
