A “Christian” is someone who has been spiritually born-again. A “patriot” is someone who loves, supports and defends their country. First, Christian; then patriot. It is a historical fact that our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Throughout the Capitol Building, Washington and Lincoln monuments, and yes, even the Supreme Court building, there are numerous references to God and faith.
Our grand old flag is a symbol of freedom and liberty to which Americans pledge their allegiance. The colors of the flag are associated with meaningful colors in God’s Holy Word. The color red in the Bible symbolizes Jesus’ shed blood; red on our U.S. flag symbolizes hardiness and valor. The color white symbolizes purity and innocence in both instances. The color blue appears in the Bible mostly as a color on a garment or fabric, just as our flag is made of fabric.
John 3:3,5-7 – “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 5 … Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”
Christians, we must stand up for God, country and flag in this spiritual battle. The best way to do that is on our knees in prayer for our patriot leaders and those who defend Christian values. It is never too late, for "with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
