The Old Rugged Cross

On a hill far away, stood an old rugged Cross, the emblem of suffering and shame. And I love that old Cross where the dearest and best, for a world of lost sinners was slain. I'll cherish the old rugged Cross until my trophies at last I lay down! I will cling to the old rugged Cross and exchange it some day for a crown.

Luke 23:33 - “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” 1Corinthians 1:18 - “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 2Timothy 4:8 - “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

The old rugged Cross is despised by the world but has a wondrous attraction for me. The dear Lamb of God left his Glory above to bear it to dark Calvary. The cross is stained with blood so divine … a wondrous beauty! It's where Jesus suffered and died to pardon and sanctify you and me! Have you accepted our Lord’s gift of eternity in heaven with Him?
