The Real "F" Word

If you've watched a movie on Netflix or Prime lately, you probably heard the worldly version of the "f" word in just about every sentence. In the old days, bad words were often referred to as "four-letter words" and filthy language wasn't allowed in shows and movies. Now, corrupt communication is so common that it is a part of the world's everyday language.
God makes it clear we are to 'watch our tongue.'
Colossians 3:8 - "But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth."
God wants our words to be edifying and encouraging to those around us.
Ephesians 4:29 - “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
Words are powerful ... they can justify us, but also condemn us.
Matthew 12:37 - “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
So what's the REAL "F" word? FAITH.
What is faith?
Hebrews 11:1 - “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
How do we get faith?
Romans 10:17 - “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
We are saved through faith ... by God's grace. There is nothing we can do to earn our way to heaven. Salvation is God's gift ... won't you accept it? Won't you read to His gospel message and learn about faith through the word of God?
Ephesians 2:8 - “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
Faith allows us to be the children of God.
Galatians 3:26 - “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”
When we become God's child, He calls us to be peculiar, to be set apart, different from the world.
1Peter 2:9 - “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”
We were blessed to know and become friends with a man who set himself apart ... he didn't use profane language. This military sergeant didn't follow the crowd when it came to filthy language. It was noticed by his Army squad and others in his life. In fact, he became known for what he didn't do ... use filthy language ... and was respected for it. There were also many other ways he showed his love for the Lord and what the true "f" word --faith-- is all about.
Input = Output. What you put into that head of yours will certainly make its way out. This sergeant (and friend) loved the Lord and read/studied the King James Bible. He also loved watching old movies, mostly because they didn't contain profanity. He knew that 'input' equals 'output' and wasn't afraid to be 'peculiar' to the world.
Proverbs 4:20-24 - "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee."
Although we have not seen Christ (yet), it is comforting to know we (believers) are safe with Him. The streams of this living water flow into the soul by the influences of the Holy Spirit, through faith. Christ lives in the believer by His Spirit, and the believer lives for Him. Ponder that, and then ask yourself: Am I living by faith, setting my affections upon eternity in heaven, or am I living for the world and what it has to offer?
FAITH. It's the real deal. It's the real "f" word.
