It’s Sunday. Is today your ‘holy day of obligation’? Time to put on your happy face and go listen to the preacher so you can feel good until next Sunday mornin’? Yeah, yeah, Jesus died for our sins. But let’s get to the part where God will prosper me, give me strength, and always be there for me? (After all, it’s about ME, right?)
Friend, if you are gathering with the church because you think it is all about you, then don’t waste your time. Sure, Jesus died for YOUR sins and MINE, but it’s about HIM, not us. He didn’t have to die! But not only did He die, He died willingly. Nobody killed Jesus, He gave up His life. John 10:18 - “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” He is Lord of heaven and earth, Lord of all creation, and He died in our place so that we might live! When is the last time you gave Him the glory for that?
When tragedy strikes, when sickness comes, when you stumble in the darkness, Whose name do you call?
The God of wonders beyond our galaxy … A galaxy is defined as ‘a gravitationally bound system of stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matter.’ Study our solar system and tell me you really believe a big bang happened and POOF! All by itself, shazam ...our Milky Way galaxy. Curious, did the other galaxies each have their own big bang? But wait, Who created the gases? the dust? the gravitational constant?
Sorry, no excuses. If you believe the ‘science’ of the big bang theory, we’ve got some ocean-front property in Arizona we’d like to sell you. Mankind was created with the knowledge of an eternal God. Romans 1:18-20 – “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”
Our God is holy! The universe declares His majesty (and not just on Sundays)! Pray each morning and ask Him to reveal His heart to you, then celebrate the Light; celebrate the Lord of Heaven and earth! Give glory to the God of wonders every day!
