Accountability

VBS4ever

We are accountable and liable for every one of our actions and thoughts (and debt). After our time on earth, we will give to God an account of our life.

The Bible describes two separate judgments

Judgment for believers 2Corinthians 5:9-10 Those saved by His blood will not be held accountable for transgressions and their works will be judged by God.

Judgment for unbelievers Revelation 20:11-15 Those not saved by His blood (the lost) will be held responsible for transgressions and will be sentenced to eternal punishment.

Each of us will one day stand before God, the Perfect Judge, and be held accountable. If you have repented of your sins and placed your trust in Christ, then His righteousness will cover you. If you know someone not covered by the Blood of Jesus … they must realize there are no good deeds they can do to earn their place in Heaven. There are many good and nice people in hell.

It’s humbling to realize when our physical life is done we have only our soul to take with us. Your choice on if it’s going to be Heaven or hell. Simple choice to make … a) eternal life in Heaven with God or b) eternity in a lake of fire with satan and eternally set apart from God and His grace and mercy.

How is it confusing to the lost non-believers? It’s satan tempting the lost into believing Christ’s blood on the cross was nothing, that Christ’s Resurrection was nothing. Satan wants ‘the lost’ to focus on Santa, a wooden plus sign and a (biological) bunny rabbit that lays chicken eggs.

We're entitled to nothing and it may be stolen or broken at any moment. We are mere stewards of what God has entrusted to us. This includes our bodies, time, energy, our minds, money, all possessions and more. We’re accountable to Him for the care of all He has entrusted us.

Are you prepared to be held accountable at the judgment seat? If you are a 1) good person who's 2) accountable but has 3) not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you're falling short of what it takes to make it to Heaven. Sure, you're a good citizen and people like and trust 'you' ... BUT do YOU trust and love God your creator? If so, accept Jesus in your heart. You're accountable for all your choices but nothing is more vital than your choice of where you'll spend eternity.

A few Bible verses discussing accountability and judgment.

Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

2Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Luke 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

Today’s featured ‘song’ Accountability is written to nurture the souls of children (Lyrics here), though it applies to everyone. It’s thoughtfully written by Mary Ann Snowball and music by Kevin G. Pace. Intended for children to comprehend their relationship with God in society and accountability for their own actions. Children who don't experience accountability and consequences of their actions must eventually overcome their social disadvantage.

... and remember: Salvation is not an optional choice, but the only alternative to eternity apart from God in hell.
