Father’s Day 2022
Happy Father’s Day! Did you know there are an estimated 70+ million fathers currently in the United States? The nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington. However, it was not until 1972—58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official—that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide holiday.
Fathers are called in a special way to reflect God’s unconditional love and forgiveness; God designed them to help us navigate life’s challenges and pick us up when we fall, similar to the way our heavenly Father cares for us ... He is our example of fatherhood and sacrifice. God the Father gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, as the ultimate sacrifice so that we might be saved through Him.
Proverbs 23:24 - “The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.”
Featured today is a poem (PDF here) written by our sister just a few days after our beloved father passed away. It is a beautiful tribute to a life well-lived and a man well-loved. We take comfort in knowing we will see him, our sister Kim, AND our LORD and Saviour one day soon.
We encourage you to treasure each moment with those you love. Exodus 20:12 - “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”
If you are estranged from any of your loved ones, make today the day you reunite! No one is perfect except Jesus Christ Himself. If you have been wronged, forgiveness will bring freedom. If anyone you know has not heard about our LORD’s saving grace, seize the day … tell them! Carpe diem!
Love you, Dad!
