He Calls Me Friend
What a revelation it is when a new believer in Jesus learns they can go straight to God and talk with Him about anything! God is your friend; He created you and loves you! Do you call God your friend?
Some Christians look back at how they used to ask for the forgiveness of their sin through humans, who were presumed to be appointed by God to listen to the sinner’s sinful acts in order to judge and issue penance. They’d send the sinner off with an assignment of prayer or some other earthly act to earn or justify God’s forgiveness.
Nope. That's not how it works!
The Bible tells us to take our sin directly to God.
1 John 1:9 - “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
When we ask God’s forgiveness He forgets our sin for His own sake.
Isaiah 43:25 - “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.”
God tells us to press forward and not look back.
Philippians 3:13 - "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,”
Why would we attempt to remember or fret over a forgiven sin when God says He does not remember the forgiven sin?
We’re forgiven and must allow Jesus’ blood to wash clean our conscience from any evil we’ve confessed and serve Him. Hebrews 9:14 -“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
The only sin God cannot forgive is the sin you don’t confess to Him.
As a Christian, you have a 'direct line' to God. Your relationship with Him is up to you; it’s your responsibility to accept His gift. When we die, we’ll not have a lawyer or trusted friend by our side as we sit before God. Once our last breath is taken our eternal fate (Heaven or hell) is sealed.
Salvation is not an optional choice, but the only alternative to eternity apart from God in hell.
If you’re not sure you are saved = you need only take one more step to walk with Him.
Today's song lyrics exclaim the joy of choosing to share your life on earth with your most powerful and loving friend ... God.
