Loving the Least of These

After Jesus’ resurrection, He talks to the eleven disciples in Matthew 28:19, commonly referred to as “The Great Commission”, and tells them to “go and teach” what He has taught them. Matthew Chapter 25 describes the last judgment and explains the former parables. We cannot lose sight of the fact that Jesus Christ is the great Shepherd; He will shortly distinguish between those that are His, and those that are not. We are to share (go and teach) the gospel message with everyone to save them from everlasting punishment! Jesus tells His disciples that what we do for the “least of these”, we do for Him. Christ-followers, if we don’t share the Love of Jesus, who will? We are all called!

Matthew 25:31-40 – “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth [his] sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave [thee] drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took [thee] in? or naked, and clothed [thee]? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.”

Lyrics: Little hands, shoeless feet, lonely eyes looking back at me. Will we leave behind the innocent to grieve, on the road, on the run when their lives have only begun? These could be our daughters and our sons! Like a drum, I can hear their hearts beating; I know my God won't let them be defeated. Every child has a dream to belong and be loved. Boys become kings, girls will be queens, wrapped in our Lord’s majesty! When we love the least of these, then they will be brave and free and shout the name of Jesus in victory! Lord, break our hearts once again and help us to remember when we were only children hoping for a friend. Believers, look around at the lives the world has forgotten, waiting for doors of our hearts and our homes to open.

If not us, who will be like Jesus to the least of these? Watch this great video :)
