WAITING

Our first and most important relationship must be with Jesus.

There's a song written in the context of a man waiting for his future wife, pondering what she and their relationship will be like. “Is she waiting for me? Is she looking at the moon I’m looking at right now? Have I met the one God has planned for me?" The song is also a point of reflection for married couples as they look back in amazement at how God assembled the circumstances of life for them to meet and become one in Him.
Mark 10:6-9 – “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”
Song lyrics to "Dear Future Wife" by C.Hale, C.Thompson, R.King -- "I’ve been wishing, I’ve been waiting, I’ve been hoping and praying that you’re out there somewhere on this earth. Someday I’ll meet you face-to-face, but for tonight I have some things I wanna say. Maybe you are feeling broken but I know you’re beautiful, and the God Who loves us both is gonna make you whole. And while you're waiting just for me, I'll do my bеst so I can be the future husband that my futurе wife deserves. Dear future wife, I’ve gotta tell you I’m still working on my life. I’m still trying, I’m still learning and this song is my confession that I’m nowhere near perfection, but the God who loves us both is gonna make me whole. And on that day I finally see you dressed in white, I know that we will say that all the waiting was worth it 'cause that moment is so perfect when the God who loves us both makes us one."
Ephesians 5:33 - “Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband."
Whether you’re looking for that future wife OR husband, be assured God has created someone just for you. While you’re in-the-waiting, keep in mind that your first and most important relationship must be with Jesus. Pray and ask God to bring your special someone (or thank Him for them if He's answered your prayer). Be careful, the first person who comes along may not necessarily be the one. Discernment is your responsibility. Relationships take time; don't be in a hurry. Be sure you are both spiritually saved, on the same page and aware that newness of fresh hopes and dreams can blind reality.
2Corinthians 6:14 - “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
If you have any doubts before you say "I do," it's never too late to say, "Let's wait." A lifetime is a long time to spend with the wrong person. Listen to those closest to you; ask their opinion about their observations of your relationship. Pray, and pray some more. God will give you assurance. Don't get ahead of Him. If He has indeed answered your prayer, what a blessing!
And remember, if already married, keep Jesus at the head of your marriage, making your union exponentially stronger. If you haven't yet, be sure to invite Jesus into your heart and/or marital trinity.
