The word ‘truth’ appears 224 times in the Bible; the word ‘truly’ appears 41 times. In the Book of John, Jesus says He is the way, the truth, and the life and He is the Word and the Word is God. Not only does God declare His Word as truth, we are sanctified through His truth. The living Word of God (Jesus) and the written word of God (the Bible) are truth.
John 17:17 - “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
'Sanctify' means 'to be holy / set apart' from the world. We become sanctified through God’s powerful Word.
Leviticus 20:7 - “Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.”
Our United States government is founded upon God’s Word. "We hold these truths to be self-evident" is a famous phrase from the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence, which asserts that certain rights, such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, are inherent and should be recognized by all, emphasizing equality and that governments derive power from the consent of the governed.
As spiritually-born believers, we derive power from our Most High God. The word ‘power’ appears in the Bible 260 times.
1Chronicles 29:11 - “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.”
Ephesians 1:19-21 – “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:”
We become sanctified at salvation. Seek His truth and His Word, grow closer to the Lord, and you will have access to His power and wisdom. What a gift!
