Ever find yourself humming an old secular song you haven’t heard for years? Today’s song was released in the late 1990s and was near the top of the charts for weeks. It was sung and made popular by two Country music artists and although not a 'Christian song', the lyrics and topic can easily be changed to focus on Jesus. How do I live without Jesus? What kind of life would that be? Jesus should be the focus of our lives! It’s not about me, it’s not about you … it’s about Jesu

Everyone feels all alone at some time or another. Loneliness can leave people feeling isolated and disconnected, to the point that even when surrounded by a roomful of others, they can feel alone. The good news is, if you have been saved by the blood of the Lamb, you are never alone! At the moment of salvation, God sends The Comforter (the Spirit of truth) to reside in us. He is always with us! Lonely one, are you saved by the blood of the Lamb? John 14:16-17 – “And I will pr
That’s a huge statement to have directed to us - “Well done.” Regardless of what responsibility or opportunity God has placed in your life, what matters is you are faithful to do your best in honoring God in the circumstances He places you in. If you are ‘Saved’ and answer His call and ‘do well’, you will one day hear God saying, “Well done”. The message today is based on the 2018 song, “Well Done”. The song lyrics are a truthful assurance of God’s promise. What will it be li
Continuing with the ‘bird’ theme, today we will focus on the eagle. The adult American eagle (also called a bald eagle) is large, heavy-beaked, big-footed and mainly brown with a white head and tail. They are found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply and old-growth trees for nesting. They feed mainly on fish, snatching them from the water with their talons. They build large tree nests and reach maturity after approximately 4 years. Like God’s design f
Yesterday’s message (Happy as a Bird on the Wing) brought to mind a ‘secular’ song about birds and brokenness. So continuing with the ‘bird’ theme … ‘bird’ appears in God’s Word 25 times; ‘birds’ (plural) also appears 25 times. The song of the bird is beautiful, and often taken for granted. God uses birds (fowls of the air, doves, sparrow, eagle, swallow, ravens, etc.) in different ways to teach, describe or perform. John likened the Holy Spirit to a dove when He saw it desce
Busy, busy, busy. Life is busy! It seems as though we run from one 'thing' to the next. With work, school, sports, Bible study, church service and everything else in between, it is difficult for families to sit down at the table together each evening. But it is important … Did you know that talking to children during dinner is even better than reading to them as a way to boost their vocabulary? Research indicates that during dinner table conversations, on average kids will br
“Oh, give me a home, where the buffalo roam,
where the deer and the antelope play,
where seldom is heard, a discouraging word,
and the skies are not cloudy all day.
Home, home on the range, where the deer and the antelope play,
where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
and the skies are not cloudy all day.” This song has some memorable words that capture pleasant thoughts and desires. In today’s message, we are focusing on ‘encouraging’ words.
Encouragement comes in man
“I know that He gave his life for me
Set all our spirits free
So I want to do right, want to do right
All of my life” “Do Right” is a 1980 hit song written by Paul Davis. It was one of several *Gospel-tinged songs of the 1980s era to hit the main U.S. song charts peaking at #23 on the Adult Contemporary Chart and was #10 on the Christian Adult Contemporary charts in 1980. *Gospel tinged.
The song thanks Jesus for His gift to man of eternal life in Heaven. Thoug
What is faith? The Bible says we are to 'live by faith.' Romans 1:17 - “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” We should also 'walk in faith', knowing we are eternally secure if we have accepted Christ as our Saviour. 2Corinthians 5:7 - “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” The word ‘faith’ appears in the Bible 231 times. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith - “Now faith is the substance of things hoped
Happy Father’s Day! Did you know there are an estimated 70+ million fathers currently in the United States? The nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington. However, it was not until 1972—58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official—that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide holiday. Fathers are called in a special way to reflect God’s unconditional love and forgiveness; God designed them to help us navi
Father’s Day is tomorrow. Forget the shirt, tie or socks gift. If you are blessed to have an earthly father, the best gift you can give him is your time. If you live close-by, visit him. If not, call him or better yet, make plans to visit him anyway. You will never regret the time you spend together. Someday, Christ-followers will meet our Heavenly Father. That will be the greatest Father's Day of all!
If you are a father, don’t ever underestimate the influence you have on yo
For years now, have you (or someone you know) been trading punches with the enemy? Have you built a stone tower of lies so high you can’t even see it any more? Do you feel trapped, wanting to cry out to the Lord, “I'm desperate! Help me?” Your Jericho walls have got to come down! Read the story of the Walls of Jericho here. Hebrews 11:30 - “By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.” What is faith?

Love makes the world go ‘round … ever heard that? There is truth to the saying, because God is love. 1John 4:8 -“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” Without God, we wouldn’t have life at all. And outside of Christ, there is no reality, logic or reason for anything ... everything was made for Christ. John 1:3 - “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” We must fully depend on Jesus, for without Him we have nothing …
Ever pray for something and God doesn’t give the answer you want or maybe you don’t see or hear His answer? He always answers heartfelt prayers, but often times the answer requires you to look at what surrounds you. Sometimes the answer is in plain sight. We’ve discussed in past posts how some of the lost are waiting for God’s voice before they accept the truth of His Word. Read related post. Yet, God has placed the witness (witness = His answer to what you seek) right in fro
God’s Word is our compass for life, our ‘Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth’. In His Word, God warns us that there will come a time when His doctrine will be attacked and people will turn from His truth. 2Timothy 4:3-4 – “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” The time has
Steal, kill and destroy. That’s satan’s job and he’s good at it! He finds our weaknesses and throws them in our face every chance he gets. He is relentless and will stop at nothing to be sure we don’t find our way (or way back) to Jesus. He whispers to us that we aren’t good enough, we aren’t worthy of spending eternity with our Lord in heaven. Don’t believe the father of lies! To say or think you are too bad, too far gone to be forgiven is insulting to Jesus … He suffered an
Parents, your children are watching. Grandparents, your grandkids are watching. Your neighbors are watching, your boss is watching … somebody is always watching you! Most importantly, God is watching. Christ-follower, are you reflecting God’s Light? What do your kids, grandkids, neighbors, boss see? Better yet, WHO do they see … do they see Jesus in you? satan is seeking those whom he may devour. He pulls the strings of Christ-followers by invading their thoughts and choices
We’ve all had times in our life that we question God’s faithfulness, asking Him, “Where are you?” We wonder if He’s even hearing our prayers and if He is, where are the answers? Some of us may even stop reading His Word and/or praying, thinking ‘What’s the use?’ Friend, did you feel the same way when He answered your prayers before? or when you woke up with eyes to see His beautiful Creation; ears to hear the birds singing; knowing your loved ones are all safe and healthy … d
"Thou shall not kill" is the ‘sixth commandment’ given Moses. The words 'kill' and 'murder' both mean taking a life but the word "kill" can be broken down into two meanings. In the New Testament, Matthew 19:18 - “… Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, …” Killing encompasses taking any life, deliberately or by accident, legally or illegally, morally or immorally. Thus, you might say, “I killed a fly” not "I murdered a fly." “The driver was accidentally killed," not "The driver
