A Little Lamb Mary Had

WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The little nursery rhyme song, “Mary Had a Little Lamb” has a worldly story behind it. Most of us are familiar with the song and have sung it to our children.

Just as all humankind has the option of Christ "in us", Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was literally the first to have the Christ Child "living inside" of her! Mary DID have a little Lamb!

The Bible tells the true story about The Lamb of God (and He isn't so little ... He's KING size!)

Matthew 1:20b-21 – “... Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
John 1:35-37 –“Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! 37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.” Luke 23:33 -“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors ...”
Oh, Mary had a little LambHe was born in a manger and His life
would later be sacrificed upon a tree.
 He became sin’s atonement
 for sinners just like me.

Upon the Cross of Calvary died Mary’s little Lamb and out of Calvary’s crimson flow, He offers a gift that will wash our sin white as snow. God sent His only begotten Son into this world, and His work has already been done.

Then Jesus ascended to the Throne
 and intercedes for everyone.
But He is soon returning,
 just as His Father planned.
 And in God’s strength
 and power and glory,
 will come Mary’s little Lamb!
Revelation 21:23 - “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

The next time you hear or sing the nursery rhyme song, remember the True Lamb Who gave His life for all of humanity so that we could live and sing in heaven with Him for evermore!

The KING of Kings is soon returning. Are you ready for that day?
