Today we celebrate Jesus' resurrection. What is it about the resurrection that gives us hope?
1Peter 1:3-5 - "Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
Three things about the resurrection that gave Peter hope: 1) It was an awesome display of God's promises. God is faithful! Read 1Corinthians 15:1-4 2) It shows the power of God. God is powerful! Read 1Corinthians 15:53-57 3) It was a display of God's mercy. God is merciful! 1Peter 1:3-5 (above)
For the believer, death is swallowed up in victory! The sting of death is sin, and Jesus took our sin! There is no sting ... the price for our sin has been paid. Death has no power for a believer.
