The Proof of Your Love
Lord Jesus, if I sing but don't have Love, I waste my breath with every song; I bring an empty voice, a hollow noise. If I speak with a silver tongue, but don't have Love, I leave a bitter taste with every word I say. So let my life be the proof Your love. Let my love look like You, Jesus, and what You're made of … how You lived, how You died. Love is sacrifice, so let my life be the proof of Your Love. 1John 4:10-16 – “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (Propitiation = substitution. Jesus took and paid the penalty for our sin.) Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1Corinthians 15:22 - “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” 1Thessalonians 3:13 - “To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.” 1John 4:8 - “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
If I give to a needy soul but don't have Love, then who is poor? It seems all the poverty is found in me. When it's all said and done, when we sing our final song, only Love remains. So let my Love look like You and what You're made of … how You lived, how You died. Lord, help me let my life be the proof of Your love.
