When We Fall Apart

You were 43 when you got the news, “Life will be changing, nothing we can do.” The clock is ticking now and all I can think about is knowing I have to move on without you somehow, and I just can't believe that you're the one who’s keeping it together, as you hold my hand and say, “It's ok to cry. It's ok to fall apart. You don't have to try to be strong when you are not.” Trust God in this storm. Don't ever fight your tears because there’s freedom in every drop. Sometimes the only way to heal a broken heart is when we fall apart.

2Corinthians 12:8-10 – “For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” Deuteronomy 31:6 - “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

The apostle Paul penned 2Corinthians by inspiration of the Holy Spirit while serving on the front lines of the mission field. He was a seasoned warrior who often faced persecution. What strength Paul lacked, our Lord supplied. In Deuteronomy Chapter 31, Moses assures Israel and Joshua of the constant presence of God with them, encouraging their faith and hope … that God will never fail nor forsake us. It is oftentimes in some of the most difficult trials we are facing that God reveals Himself to us in the greatest measure and in the most spectacular ways. He is our strength when we fall apart!
