Oh, Mister Moon, please shine down on me!
Tell me about the moon.
In the beginning …
Genesis 1:16-18 – “And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.”
The moon is good! It shines because its surface reflects light from the sun; the lesser light reflects the greater light.
Likewise, we, having no light of our own, are to reflect the greater Light of God.
Matthew 5:16 - “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
On our way to the stars, the moon is the first milestone. Even the stars of light praise the Lord! Psalms 148:3 - “Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.”
The moon plays an important role throughout God's Word. And when Jesus comes back - Acts 2:20 - “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:”
The Lamb of God is all the Light we will need!
Revelation 21:23 - “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
Be the moon and shine God’s Light!
