EVERYONE HAS A FATHER STORY

If you have been spiritually born into God's family, you are His child, which means you have Two Fathers – an earthly (biological/physical) and One Heavenly (spiritual). What a blessing! What an inheritance!

Romans 8:17 - “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
Sometimes we are disappointed by our earthly fathers, or they are not present in our life (whether because of death or other circumstances); or it may be that another man fills that earthly "father" role; or in divorce situations, you may have both a biological and step-father in your life. Regardless of the particular earthly family dynamic, our Heavenly Father is perfect and always there for us.
Jesus Christ is the visible image of God the Father. As Jesus says in John 14:7 - “If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” In other words, anyone who has seen Jesus has seen the Father.
Proverbs 22:6 - “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”The role of an earthly father (and mother) is extremely important. Like our heavenly Father, a good father leads by example (John 5:20), loves, prays for (Job 1:5), protects and blesses (Genesis 27:1-4) his children.
Proverbs 22:6 - “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Read these fantastic song lyrics by John A. Wudel --
"When I was just a little boy, my mother said to me, 'You have two fathers, son; one earthly and One Heavenly. One dad is in the other room, the Other is just as near. They’re listening, so talk to them … from you they want to hear! And they both love you oh, so much, my son. Please know they are here. So tell them all that you have done, your every joy and fear. One father lives at home with us; by faith, the Other’s here. Believe in them with all your heart, they hold you very dear.' I took my mom’s advice that day; she taught me how to pray. I passed it down to all my kids to remind us every day. They both love you, the Father and the Son. Please know they are here. So tell them all that you have done, your every joy and fear. You changed direction in my life that one amazing day. I owe it all to an angel Mom who taught me I should pray. So thank you, Mom, for showing me that fathers, I have two … and one amazing mother! There’s only one like you!"Proverbs 23:24 - “The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.”
It is never too late to fulfill your biblical role. The Bible is full of examples to learn from. Teach your children about Jesus Christ; that He is the sinner's Way to the Father and to heaven, in His person as God manifest in the flesh and in His atoning sacrifice.
Famous poet, Edgar Guest, wrote this poem about his Dad --
"Only a Dad, but he gives his all to smooth the way for his children small,Doing with courage, stern and grim, the deeds that his father did for him. This is the line that for him I pen: Only a Dad, but the best of men."Fathers are to love their wife and provide for the family both physically and spiritually (Eph. 5:25, Eph. 6:4, 1Tim. 5).
Proverbs 22:6 - “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
If you’ve been estranged from your father or have a ‘rocky’ relationship, the timing may be right to contact him and let him know you love him. Even if he has been absent, abusive or not the best parent, it doesn’t change God’s Word. The Bible is clear that we are to honour our parents. You are responsible for your role, he is responsible for his ... so regardless of your relationship status, follow God’s command to honour your father.
Ephesians 6:1-3 – “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”
If you are a father and have neglected your role of teaching your children about God and His Word, now is the time to start! If your children are grown, sit down with them to express regret for not teaching them; encourage them to learn about Him and to teach their children. It is never too late to fulfill your biblical role. The Bible is full of examples to learn from. Teach your children about Jesus Christ; that He is the sinner's Way to the Father and to heaven, in His person as God manifest in the flesh and in His atoning sacrifice.
