This world can be cold and bitter; feels like we're in the dead of winter, waiting on something better. But am I really gonna hide forever? Lord, over and over again I hear Your voice in my head, “Let Your light shine, let Your light shine for all to see.” So I’m asking You God, start a fire in my soul! Fan the flame and make it grow so there’s no doubt or denying. Let it burn so brightly that everyone around can see that it’s You we need.
Psalms 39:2-4 – “I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. 3 My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, 4 LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.” Matthew 5:16 - “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” 2Corinthians 4:6 - “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” Psalms 107:9 - “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”
Start a fire in me, Lord! It only takes a spark to start a whole blaze; it only takes a little faith. Let it start right here in this city so these old walls will never be the same. Holy Spirit, won't You fall on my heart now? You are the fire, You are the flame, You are the Light on the darkest day! We have the Hope, we bear Your name, we carry the news that You have come to save. It is You we need … start a fire!
