What is a Christian

According to 2021 estimates, 63% of Americans claim to be ‘Christian,’ making the USA the largest Christian population in the world. The problem is, do Americans know what the Bible says a ‘Christian’ really is?

Some people think being ‘Christian’ means being a moral person, someone who goes to church, or even that it’s a political view! You’ve heard it said, “Attending church service doesn’t make you a Christian any more than parking in a garage makes you a car.”

The first time anyone was called a ‘Christian’ is recorded in the Bible in Acts 11:26b - "… And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” People who understand that Jesus is God will strive to live like Him.

1Timothy 3:16 - “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

I am a Christian.
I'm on a journey but I'm not alone.
Jesus is with me,
He goes before me and His Love surrounds me;
 He's leading me Home!
 One step at a time for now,
 keeping my feet on the ground
 so I don’t lose my way.
 I'll walk on in my weakness,
 walk on through the night;
 walk on in the darkness until I see the Light.
Believer, your road begins here,
 don't stop or settle in.
 Keep your head high
 and your eyes focused on things above.
 Don't even think of giving up,
 no matter what you face!
 Don't be afraid … Jesus won’t back down.
 He is with you now!

‘Christian’ means ‘little Christ’. Being a ‘believer’ is not simply believing Jesus Christ exists but believing in everything He has done for you, repenting of your sins and accepting His gift of salvation. Jesus says you must experience a spiritual birth. John 3:3,6“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

Once you experience spiritual birth, you must strive to grow spiritually and understand the plan God has for your life. Just as a baby grows into a toddler and beyond, it takes time to grow spiritually too. God’s Word is your instruction manual for life. Bible-in-a-year Reading Plan

Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
