How Well Do You Know Jesus?

Who is Jesus Christ?

Only the One True Authority, God’s Word, can define Who Jesus is, but in a nutshell, He is Christ, the Son of God. ‘Jesus’ (‘Yeshua’ in Hebrew) means ‘to deliver; to rescue’. ‘Christ’ (‘Christos’ in Greek) means ‘the anointed one’ or ‘the chosen one’ and the Hebrew ‘Mashiach’ means ‘Messiah’ … so Christ is really more a title than it is a name, although the Bible uses it both ways.

Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on a Cross for our sins, and three days later He rose from the dead. Name anyone else you know or have heard of who could do any of those things! (People have died on a cross, but not for our sin atonement.)

In John 14:6, Jesus said, “... I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Many people, even so-called ‘Christians’ do not understand Who Jesus really is: He is God in the flesh.

Compare what God said to Moses:

Exodus 3:14“... I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”

to what Jesus said in John 8:58 –

“Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”

Jesus is speaking of His divine nature.

In Matthew 1:23, the angel says, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

The child Jesus, Emmanuel, is GOD with us.

It is difficult for physical man to understand spiritual things, but if you don’t understand this biblical fact, you don't understand God’s plan of salvation. Without understanding, followed by a heartfelt repentance and confession, can someone be saved? Consider the mystery of godliness described in 1Timothy 3:16 - “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

  • John 20:28 - “And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.”

  • Colossians 2:9 - “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”

  • Hebrews 1:8 - “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.”

In God's Word, Jesus identified Himself as being God and his disciples did too.

There is only One God, Who is comprised of three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the second person of the holy trinity, The Word that was made flesh and dwelt among us.

John 1:1-2“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.”

So the Word (Jesus) was made flesh … Jesus was in the beginning … He was with God … and He was God. Therefore, Jesus has two natures: divine and human. He is both God and man at the same time. Why? Because only God can atone for our sins. Because we are sinful beings, we cannot please or be in the presence of an infinitely holy God. A man needed to die for humanity so God became flesh (Jesus), and as a man, took our place on the Cross and suffered the wrath of God. If you believe and put your faith and trust in this fact, you will be saved from the righteous judgment of God. If you don’t believe this biblical truth, the Bible says hell and the lake of fire is your destination, a place of wailing and gnashing of teeth ... for ever and ever.

You say your faith is personal? Yes, it is a personal choice. Choose wisely!

Do you know my Jesus? If you already know my Jesus, what are you going to do with Him?
