Daystar

Today’s song reminds us that Jesus is our Daystar, our Light in the darkness of this world. His Word is our roadmap in this journey, helping us to find the path back to Him. The beautiful lyrics--

“Lily of the Valley, let your sweet aroma fill my life! Rose of Sharon show me how to grow in beauty in God's sight. Fairest of ten thousand, make me a reflection of Your Light. Daystar, shine down on me and let Your Love shine through me in the night. Lead me Lord, I'll follow ... anywhere you open up the door. Let Your Word speak to me, show me what I've never seen before. Lord I want to be Your witness! You can take what's wrong and make it right. Daystar shine down on me, let your love shine through me in the night. Lord I've seen a world that's dying, wounded by the master of deceit. Groping in the darkness, haunted by the years of past defeat. But when I see You standing near me, shining with compassion in Your eyes, I pray, Jesus shine down on me, let Your love shine through me in the night!" Song of Solomon 2:1 - “I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.” 2Peter 1:16-21 – “For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

In the eloquent words of Matthew Henry: “When the light of the Scripture is darted into the blind mind and dark understanding, by the Holy Spirit of God, it is like the day-break that advances, and diffuses itself through the whole soul, till it makes perfect day.” (Read Matthew Henry’s Commentary on 2Peter 1:16-21 below.)
