Clean and Peculiar

Don’t know ’bout you, but I’m tired of the filthy language coming out of people’s mouths nowadays. The “F” word is in every other sentence on TV, social media, everywhere. People say, “Jesus!” or “Oh, my God!” when exclaiming something … but is He really? Is He really their God?

God wants believers to be a “peculiar” people … holy, set apart. If the world thinks it’s cool to use filthy language, why not be different, be peculiar? God really doesn’t ask that much of us so why not clean up our act and show the “Jesus” in us to others?

Titus 2:14 - “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” 1Peter 2:9 - “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” Colossians 3:8 - “But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.” Ephesians 5:1-7 – “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.”

Today’s song points out that Jesus sees us differently than we see ourselves and we can be made “clean” by accepting His gift – I see shattered, Jesus, You see whole. I see broken, but You see beautiful and You're helping me to believe. You're restoring me piece by piece. There's nothing too dirty that You can't make worthy! You wash me in mercy, your grace can make me clean! Your gift of salvation can make the dead live again! My heart's beating inside my chest! I’m spiritually born again! Now I'm alive with joy and destiny because Jesus has redeemed me. Lord, Thank You for Your sacrifice … Your blood flowed red and made me white! My dirty rags are purified. I am clean!
