Have We Forgotten?

Twenty years ago today, September 11, 2001 … do you remember where you were, what you were doing? Many people remember exactly ... the day our beautiful country was attacked by Islamic terrorists, the deadliest terrorist attack in human history. It's a tragedy we should never forget. But this evil didn't come as a surprise to our loving God, Who knows all. God is not to blame for evil that occurs; He is sinless and didn't do this terrorist act, man did. God gave man free will, and we suffer the consequences of sin.

We have chosen two special songs for today, along with a Prayer for the USA and its leaders (with the latest Afghanistan tragedy and other decisions coming from the White House, prayer is essential). Please also take a moment to honour and pray for those who were killed or hurt in the September 11th attacks … as well as each and every family member they left behind. Matthew 13:36-43 - "... his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one]; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;" And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear."

God was there that day, undoubtedly broken-hearted over the evil choices made. But He promised us He wouldn't leave us comfortless. His ways are higher than ours. We are to love and pray for our enemies, one of the hardest things to do. Take heart, Christ-followers, we've read the end of The Book ... our enemy is destroyed and God's saved people WIN!
