Trials are a part of life. If you’re not presently going through a trial, you’ve just been through one or hold on, one is on the way! God uses the trials of life to strengthen, teach and refine us. If we keep our eyes focused on Him and His Word, He will bring us out of the situation even better than we were before. But it’s a process, similar to the process of making a diamond: first, it is put under tremendous pressure, then it is put under extreme heat, then it is cut. It takes time to refine the diamond just like it takes time for God to refine us.
Today’s song is about God making diamonds … out of dust! He’s refining in His timing; He's making diamonds out of us! 'Here and now I'm in the fire, in above my head and being held under the pressure. But it's here in the ashes that I'm finding treasure. The beauty that was hidden is no longer covered up. It’s something much better than what I had hoped for! The joy of the Lord will be my strength. When the pressure is on, He’s making diamonds!' Isaiah 25:4 - “For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.” James 1:2-6 – “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." Psalms 144:1 - “... Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:”
Diamonds are hard to come by and therefore, there are many fakes. The Greek meaning of the word “diamond” is invincible, unbreakable. Real diamonds are strong and unbreakable. It is God’s strength and power that makes us “unbreakable”. Be faithful and stedfast, and trust God to refine your life into the diamond He wants you to be!
