Hurricane

We’ve all experienced painful or hurtful feelings, maybe by unkind words or actions; maybe a friend or loved one betrayed you, or your heart was broken from a bad relationship. Whatever your painful experience, you began to build emotional walls to protect your heart. Over time, your walls became bigger, and you just wanted to hide behind them. Friend, Jesus wants to break down your walls! Your Creator knows you better than you know yourself and wants to have a relationship with you. He loves you unconditionally and wants to bring joy into your life. But it’s up to you to ask Him into your heart so He can open the door to a whole new world for you. He’s been knocking at your door all along. Won’t you invite Him in so He can start breaking down those walls of fear, pain and doubt?

Luke 11:9 - “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” Revelation 3:20 - “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Proverbs 13:10 - “Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.” Proverbs 16:18 - “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

What Do You Value? What we value becomes what we prioritize. When our values align with God’s values, we will stay focused on eternal things and live out His purpose for our lives. Read Matthew 6:19–24. How Do You View God? How we respond to life’s trouble reflects how we view God and whether we trust Him. Worry stems from a heart of unbelief. “O ye of little faith.” Read Matthew 6:25–34.

Song Lyrics: “I have built a city here, half with pride and half with fear; just wanted a safer place to hide. I don't want to be safe tonight. I need You like a hurricane … thunder crashing, wind and rain … to tear my walls down! I'm only Yours now. I need You like a burning flame, a wild fire untamed, to burn these walls down. I am Yours and You are mine, You know far better than I; and if destruction's what I need, then I'll receive it, Lord, from Thee. It's Your eye in the storm, watching over me, wanting only good for me. And if You are the war, let me be the casualty 'til I'm Yours alone, Lord. Come be my hurricane!"
